How To Make A Paper Thistle To Celebrate St Andrew's Day

A thistle may just be a weed to you but it is also the national flower of Scotland and a fantastic way to bring a touch of Scotland to your home or classroom this St Andrew's Day! Your kids will have fun creating a paper thistle while practicing cutting, gluing, and creativity. It pairs perfectly with our St Andrews Day Hat and Bunting to give the perfect scottish touch to your celebrations!

Supplies:

  • Purple and green paper (You can also cut colours from magazines for sustainability, or just colour in paper you already have with markers)

  • Scissors

  • Glue

Steps:

  1. Cut or tear purple paper into small petal shapes.

  2. Cut green paper into spiky leaves and a thick stalk.

  3. On another piece of paper, glue the petals together in a rounded flower shape.

  4. Add the stalk at the bottom, and the leaves coming off from the stalk.

  5. Display or use as a card decoration.

This Paper Thistle Craft is not only beautiful but also a fun way to explore Scottish symbols. Display them around the home or give as festive handmade gifts! You can also use them to make cards to send to family and friends too.
